Wasted Space Below The Deck
The raised deck created a dark, damp void underneath that added little value and made the backyard feel smaller and less usable than it should have been.

Weeds, Soil Loss, And General Neglect
Weed growth between the old pavers, uneven surfaces, and ongoing soil erosion all pointed to a yard that had been left without proper maintenance for too long.

Unsafe Deck And Fence Conditions
The deck and fence were both more than twenty years old and had deteriorated enough that their structural reliability and safety were serious concerns, especially for a family using the yard regularly.

Water Pooling Near The Foundation
The settled old pavers had reversed the intended slope of the yard, allowing rainwater to collect directly against the house instead of draining away from it.

Raised Planters And Hardscape Integration
Along the new fence line, we built raised planters to help retain soil, improve edge definition, and add stronger visual layering to the backyard. We then installed new interlocking in a coordinated grey palette and tied it cleanly into fresh lawn areas for a more complete finished look.

French Drain Installation
We removed the old pavers and failing organic material, raised and rebuilt the hardscape base near the foundation, and re-established a proper outward drainage slope. Along both sides of the yard, we installed underground weeping tile to collect and redirect excess water away from the house more effectively.

A Dual-Use Waterproof Deck
We removed the failing deck and fence and rebuilt them using new materials and a more reliable structure. To make better use of the backyard, we added an under-deck drainage system so the upper deck could function as a sun terrace while the space below became a cleaner covered patio area with much more practical value.

Stronger Outdoor Asset
New hardscape, fresh lawn, raised planters, and rebuilt woodwork lifted the overall quality of the backyard and made the exterior feel much more aligned with the value of the home.
More Outdoor Space
With the waterproof deck system and the cleaner hardscape below, the homeowners gained both an upper-level deck and a more sheltered lower-level sitting area.
Greater Confidence
The most serious risks were removed, including chronic water buildup near the foundation and the unsafe condition of the old wood structures.
